Emily Eden was the daughter of the 1st Baron Auckland, a close confidant of Pitt. She was thus well placed to observe the manners and mores of nineteenth century aristocracy. A huge admirer of Jane Austen, her works reflect this in their perception, tongue in cheek humour and benevolence toward the victims of her pen. 'The Semi Attached Couple' is a revealing insight of attitudes and customs within marriage. Miss Eden asks, among other questions, what happens to a man, immediately after marriage, who believes his wife dislikes him? This set in a context in which people 'may all hate, all envy, all rival each other; they may say everything that is ill-natured and do everything that is mischievous but the general effect, as painters would call it, must be harmony'. 1. The Two Shall Become One Flesh

This book is a study of the covenant in marriage. It describes its origins established by God in the garden of Eden. The husband and his wife were living in perfect harmony with God and between themselves. Their disobedience toward God broke that harmony: here lies the origin of conflicts in couples throughout the world. This book teaches the man and the woman to discover their potentials as man, husband and father and as woman, wife and mother. The spouses to be and the already married couples will discover their God established rights and responsibilities. They learn what "agape" love is, witch is different from friendship and sexual attraction. This book helps to meet the challenges of a life shared with a complete stranger and to manage priorities. Therefore, this book is a vade-mecum for an harmonious life in the couple and in the family, where God pours out his blessing, the blessing that makes rich, without painful toil attached to it.

Isle of Eden Revisited

The original 'Isle of Eden', a collection of short stories written by J.A.R. Grenier, was published in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), in December 1960. He was born in Ceylon and was an author and fisherman of renown, whose family lineage goes back many generations in this beautiful tropical island. This revised and expanded edition, 'Isle of Eden Revisited', includes the complete original text, and eight additional stories. His son, David J. Grenier, an award-winning photographer, provided the photographs attached to each story, as well as the back cover, shot during a trip back to the land of his birth in 2014. David's son, Dean J. Grenier, created the page layouts, as well as the artwork design of the front and back pages, thereby involving three generations in the production of this revised and expanded version. J.A.R. Grenier writes with all the vigour and realism of the storytellers of old. There is salt in his veins, and in his heart a strong affection for and a kindly understanding of the people of the land of his birth. The people about whom he writes are just ordinary folk; fisherman, labourers, bargees, beggars and gram-vendors, washerman and peasants, any of whom one may meet anywhere in the beautiful Island. These stories are never dull or insipid. The author's characterisations are lively and full-blooded, even though, at times, they seem harsh and brutal like the lives led by those around whom he weaves his fascinating tales.
